Inappropriate Images in Bloglines
February 15, 2007 by jzcolby
Warning: Bloglines has a feature marked as “New” entitled Image Wall. Of course, when you click on it you get a disclaimer to agree to. I agreed — I thought how bad could it be? Well, word of warning — don’t use it in school. As soon as it opened up, it was very inappropriate. I love the Internet and think it is the greatest but when things like this “pop up” it certainly dampens my spirit.
The Image Wall is comprised of dynamically generated images from user feeds and may contain material of an explicit sexual nature or other adult content.
By clicking “I Agree” below, you agree to the following terms:
- You are over the age of 18 and understand that the material included in the Image Wall may involve language, content, images, and themes of an adult or controversial nature.
- You understand that the content on the Image Wall does not reflect the views of Bloglines, IAC Search & Media, or its affiliates, and that Bloglines has no obligation to delete content that you may find offensive.
- You agree that you will not hold Bloglines, IAC Search & Media, or its affiliates responsible for any materials located on the Image Wall.

Bloglines has taken the image wall and given it a seperate URL that can be blocked at schools. I tried to find their announcement but could not but Aound the Corner has the announcement.
Thanks Beth. After I had posted I noticed some more conversation going out there on the image wall and did see that post about Bloglines moving it to a separate URL. Hopefully, it will be blocked at Barnstable. I don’t worry too much at my school because at this point I am not showing Bloglines to students (but you never know what next year holds in store).
