Wikis are Growing at our School
April 17, 2007 by jzcolby
This past week, I held a two-hour workshop on wikis. There were 18 teachers in attendance, which was great — about 3/4 of our classroom teachers. We are starting with creating the basic wiki and then will move on to collaboration on the wiki. All the teachers did great and accomplished creating their wiki, editing pages, and creating their navigation bar. Most of them were also posting images to their wiki. I can’t wait to see all the new wikis. Many thanks to the team at wikispaces for all the hard work they have put into wikispaces and offering these free wikis to educators.
I truly believe that wikis are and will be a great tool at our school to increase communication between the classroom and home. Can’t wait to get ideas on using wikis with the students and hopefully students outside our district. When I look back on the past year and think about how much I have learned from blogs and wikis, I am just overwhelmed (and happy).

One of my colleagues has started a wiki for her class of 2d graders. So far, so good. I agree with your comment that they will become more prevelant.
Thanks for sharing. I would love to see the 2nd grade wiki. I love to be able to show the teachers at my school other teachers in elementary school who have wikis. If she wants to share, let me know the url. I will be posting the url’s for some of the wikis at my school soon.
