My New “ET” Position
August 8, 2007 by jzcolby
I find it very interesting that my previous post where I discuss Jeff Utecht’s post regarding Informational Technologists versus Educational Technologists, I talk about preferring the ET part of the job and that I am pulled in so many directions with my IT part of the job.
Well, I have accepted a new position as Technology Integration Specialist with Plymouth Public Schools in Plymouth, Massachusetts and guess what — I will focusing on ET, no more IT. No more stressing over computers losing their hard drives, wireless networks not working, frozen laptops, printers out of toner, which laptops to purchase, etc. In defense of IT though — I learned a tremendous amount of great information taking care of the hardware.
I loved my job at Marstons Mills East elementary school and I loved working with the teachers and the fun we had with technology. I will miss the job and everyone terribly. But I am looking forward to this new challenge. My background has been working with elementary teachers and students; my new position will be working with middle and high school teachers and students — a whole new world. My teenage daughters tell me I have to buy “cool” clothes now — no more wearing Winnie the Pooh. We’ll see about that!
So, goodbye IT and hello ET!

Hi Julia,
Just reading your blog. It makes me so sad to think I won’t be able to wave at you through the library window. I do look forward to keeping in touch electronically. Take care and I hope to be able to say good-bye in person.
Deb
Deb,
Will miss you too. Will miss you coming in with some new cool tool you tried. Keep reading my blog — I am sure you will discover some cool things to try in your classroom. You haven’t seen the end of me — I will still be around in Barnstable.
Julia
